About
Ingrid started out working in the dog world in 2016 at School For The Dogs in New York City, assisting day training and play groups, running social media, dog transportation, walking, and sitting. After leaving SFTD in 2018, she began offering walking, sitting, and training on her own. Most recently she spent 5 years with Calm Canine Academy (now Transform Behavior) as a Senior Trainer helping dogs with complex behavior challenges and their humans live less stressful lives. Ingrid specializes in dogs that experience high levels of stress, fear, reactivity, and aggression. She also has a special interest in the often overlooked overlap of pain and behavior. She started Big Feelings Canine Behavior Consulting in June 2026.

Methods
At Big Feelings we only use evidence-based, force-free training methods (also known as science-based, positive reinforcement based, R+, humane, fear-free, and more…). There’s a lot of different ways to label it, but essentially this means we will never be inflicting pain, using intimidation, coercion, or fear-based tactics in order to create behavior change. This is best practice backed up by research from the best in animal and behavior fields. No prong, no shock, no choke, or anything else that works by adding pain and fear.
Education
Ingrid spent years being certified by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), but has discontinued seeking certifications until the dog world is more regulated. That does not mean lack of education, as she is constantly seeking the most up-to-date, science-based knowledge out there. Click this link to see the ever growing list of continued education.

Virtual Training
All training services are completed virtually. While the idea of digital training can sometimes scare people away, it is often the best set up for many different types of cases, especially when it comes to fear, anxiety, and aggression. No more of "the dog only does it for the trainer” concerns. Ingrid’s had the pleasure of working with hundreds of dogs and their humans all over the world, in over 25 US states and 10+ countries.
What People Are Saying...

I have an anxious/fearful pup who started reacting towards dogs and strangers as she got into adolescence. She also was just not very comfortable in the home because she developed a fear of the breeze from the window moving things. Enter Ingrid, who first helped us work with our vet to rule out any medical issues. I was skeptical of the virtual format, but we appreciated all the detailed feedback via WhatsApp between sessions which really made it work. Her positivity on top of constructive corrections made us feel like we were on the right track even when feeling unsure! We are several months out from the end of our sessions, and the tools Ingrid provided us are still helping our pup navigate all types of new situations. Highly recommend for people who want to understand their dogs better.

My sweet sensitive girl was dog reactive with a history of dog aggression and resource guarding when I started with Ingrid. Adolescence hit her hard. With Ingrid, I discovered underlying health issues, managed her anxiety, and even started to help her safely make some dog friends. Ingrid helped give my girl her life back, and we couldn’t be happier. It’s beautiful to see the dog that she has become. Thank you Ingrid for being on our team

Had a wonderful experience with Ingrid, she is so knowledgeable and gave us very different advice than every other trainer we had previously worked with on how to deal with our dog's separation anxiety - and of course her approach worked! She was also incredibly helpful beyond that issue - helping diagnose some medical issues that were causing behavior etc. Highly recommend!
